Marinara Sauce | 1.5 - 2 quarts | |
Ricotta Cheese | 1 lb. | |
Fresh Basil | 10 leaves | |
Mozzarella Cheese | 1 lb., cut into 1/4 inch cubes | |
Provolone Cheese | 1 cup, shredded |
Bring a large pot of salted water to boil, add ziti. Cook until just al dente, about 10 minutes, then drain.
Pre-cook crumbled sausage in a separate pan for about 5 minutes, set aside.
Meanwhile, bring marinara sauce to a simmer. Turn off burner, then add ricotta and basil, stirring often.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Spread a bit of sauce on the bottom of a 15×10 inch baking dish.
Layer ziti on top of the sauce.
Then add crumbled sausage.
Sprinkle with mozzarella and provolone cheese.
Pour sauce over the cheese in an even layer.
Repeat until ingredients are gone.
Sprinkle any remaining cheeses, top with sauce.
Let rest 5 minutes before cutting.
